ECKLIEN4RAS LLP (Chennai, India) brings EC4RAS – RAS 2.0 to Growtech Middle East: a Recirculating Aquaculture System that removes the biggest pain point of modern marine RAS – the conventional biofilter.
EC4RAS replaces the biofilter with a single electrochemical treatment system. In one integrated, single-pass process it handles solids, ammonia, pathogens (including OIE-listed viruses) and off-flavours, converting ammonia directly into harmless nitrogen gas. With no biological stage to establish, balance or crash, water quality is controlled electronically and production stays constant and stable – delivering up to 15× the yield of a pond, against 10× for biofilter-based RAS.
Off-flavour management is built in: across multiple applications, fish and shrimp went to harvest without a separate purging step.
Designed for regions where water and land are scarce, EC4RAS offers water reuse with a zero-discharge design, N₂O-free operation, IoT-enabled real-time monitoring and control, integrated safety interlocks and a smaller land, water and carbon footprint – at cost parity with biofilter-based RAS. It is modular, scalable, relocatable and plug & play – the complete system is housed in one 40 ft container – and runs from brackish water to full seawater (5–35 ppt).
Applications include shrimp and fish hatcheries and grow-out, crab RAS, backyard RAS and mobile RAS, for species from shrimp, grouper, barramundi, cobia and pompano to salmon, gilthead seabream, European seabass, amberjack, sturgeon and turbot. EC4RAS is available for purchase, as a retrofit to existing RAS, or on rental.
