Ahmad Mukhtar is FAO Representative to the United Arab Emirates and OIC of the FAO Subregional Office for the GCC States and Yemen. He also serves as Regional Programme Leader (OIC) and Senior Economist leading the Strategy and Policy Team at FAO's Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa, overseeing economic analysis on food security, agricultural policy, sustainable food systems, and climate change. With over 25 years' experience across public, private, and international sectors, he previously worked with UNCTAD, UNDP, and Pakistan's WTO Mission, and chaired the WTO Working Party on Domestic Regulations (2010–2011). He holds qualifications in Economics, Law, Public Policy, Finance, and Biotechnology.
